Before Your Journey

  • Passport: minimum validity of 6 months.
  • Visa: You can apply for the visa here at the earliest 90 days before departure. It is recommended that you apply for the visa here before starting your trip.  
  • Vaccinations: The usual standard vaccinations are recommended. For special vaccinations, please consult your family doctor.
  • Travel first aid kit
  • Insurances: International travel health insurance, possibly travel cancellation and baggage insurance.
  • Clothes
    *General: Light cotton or linen clothing.

    *Temples: Clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is required.

    *Highlands: Warmer clothing, as temperatures can reach around 11°C in the evening/at night.

    *Hikes: Sturdy shoes, rainwear as a precaution.

          *Mosquito repellent, sunscreen.

            Tip: An umbrella also helps protect against the sun.

In Sri Lanka

  • Currency exchange: Currency exchange is available at the airport, and bank counters are open 24 hours a day.

  • ATMs: There are ATMs at the airport and in numerous locations where you can withdraw money using a credit card.

  • Power outlets: Sri Lanka uses power outlet types D, G, and M. It is advisable to bring a universal plug adapter. Most hotels also have adapters available.

  • SIM card: You can purchase a Sri Lankan SIM card from telephone providers at the airport.

  • Wi-Fi: Available in most hotels and restaurants.
